This free museum is well laid out, airy and spacious with several interesting sets of exhibits.
We spent two hours here wandering around and particularly appreciated the thoughtful and inclusive historical narrative.
There are excellent accommodations for breastfeeding, sensory issues, wheelchairs etc. and staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
I didn’t post too many photos of exhibits so you can discover them yourself, but you will walk away with a thorough overview of the history of the area for all inhabitants. There are areas of focus such as local neighborhoods and Black history. All signage is in English and Spanish with some braille.
It's a good place for an overview. I wish there had been more. I particularly enjoyed seeing the pre-Columbian artifacts.
Entrance is free.
No food or drinks are allowed inside the building.
Is a nice place to take your family.
It has a lot of history.
Staff in is very nice In friendly.
The places very clean.
They need a better display of souvenirs and better price on them.
They have to be something commemorative of the museum, above all, and have the name of the museum.
One of the most boring museums I’ve ever visited. Whoever curated the museum not only had little to work with, but failed to even label one of their largest and most interesting items, the huge cart. I went to a privately owned shop in Ruidoso that had its own museum that was about the same size and had far more interesting items, including Elvis Presley’s military uniform, but a city-run museum can’t find better items? Then again, expecting the city government of El Paso to do anything worthwhile may be where I went wrong to begin with.
This museum is Free! Very well maintained exhibits and interesting topics. I expected more details about the El Paso city’s history and development. The topics on the wars and civil rights are all impressive. Worth the trip and time to tour through.
Very nice and *free* history museum. A three dollar donation is requested and is well worth it. There's a very good history of the El Paso area from ancient times to today. An excellent exhibit of Chicanos in El Paso brings to light their plight. In the rotating space there is a display of photos taken at sunrise and sunset from the area. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
I loved this museum. Such rich history and beautiful artifacts. Looking forward to seeing more on my next visit 😊
